BUCKET OF PINE CONES, April 2025

Simple tasks pass the time. I saw someone in the family had collected pine cones for kindling, and the composition of this still life appeared in front of me. The four elements split into natural and artificial colour groups – the garish green bucket filled with pine cones, the red shoe on the kilim – playing off each other. Remarkably, there was no struggle with the detail of pine cones and kilim. They painted themselves.

Acrylic on Stone Paper, 29 × 21 cm
