EVERYTHING REFLECTED, November 2025
One of my most personal paintings, with objects and photographs that stand for the desire to preserve memories. It's embodied in objects and in the picture itself.
EVERYTHING REFLECTED is also about the process of painting. I used a mirror that was awkwardly too narrow, constantly craning to see my whole self and the reflections of what was behind me. I refused to turn around. As I painted, I realised the scene in front of me was also reflected in the wood of the piano, including the mirror from which I was painting, so that everything was folding into itself.
So, it speaks to the process of painting, how it reveals the unexpected. Like the mystery of casting a net into dark water.
