EVERYTHING REFLECTED, November 2025
One of my most personal paintings. I painted myself with objects and photographs standing for the desire to preserve memories, embodied in objects and in the picture itself.
Everything Reflected is also about the process of painting. I used a mirror that was awkwardly too narrow, constantly craning to see my whole self and the reflections of what was behind me. I refused to turn around. As I painted, I realised the scene in front of me was also reflected in the wood of the piano, including the mirror from which I was painting, so that everything was folding into itself.
So, Everything Reflected speaks to the process of painting, how it reveals the unexpected. Like the mystery of casting a net into dark water.
