PURPLE SKETCH, July 2025
My daughter's friend is often at our house and there is hardly ever time to paint her. This was a summer dusk, and I asked Rosh what colour she would like to be painted on. The violet she chose makes the painting. It pushes her forward into the light.
She sits cross-legged, looking down, one hand raised, holding something. Her hair falls in long dark curls. The last of the evening sun catches her face in warm ochres and terracottas, the purple shadows cooling everything it doesn't reach.
