SHADED PLACE, August 2025

Painted on location on the shores of the St Lawrence River, Canada, and captures a moment of relaxation, a precious gift. While the picnic chair takes centre stage, the subject of the painting lies back, is only visible from their knees, and their hands holding open the pages of her book.

Much of the painting’s pleasure comes from the playful energy of the unlikely pink which underpins the blues and greens of the river scene.

Acrylic on Stone Paper, 29 × 21 cm
