THESE ALWAYS FLOWER April 2026 
I set myself the challenge of painting these yellow flowers  because the stalks and leaves are a complex tangle of growth going in every direction at once. My usual approach is narrative  -  I follow what I see. Here I had to find a different way in, suggesting the mass and energy of the plant rather than describing it branch by branch. And next to it, the simpler olive tree.
These are the first flowers to open in our garden pots and will keep going as long as we remember to water them.
