LIGHT, April 2026

Light is a still life painting of a Kenyan oil lamp made from a recycled tomato puree tin holding the last survivors of a much larger bunch of flowers. The oil lamp reads primarily as a vivid red tin vessel, something between a mug and a can, with a handle and a faded label. It is the energy of the object rather than its identity that dominates. The yellow-green flowers burst upwards against the cream and blue ground with life force, some beyond the frame of the picture. Joyful, resourceful energy.
