PAINTING, NO THINKING, January 2026
I paint every day and everywhere but most often in the living room.
I was watching Father Ted while I painted these bananas. It was very funny and I was laughing all the time and painting without thinking. It represents that perfect simple state which you never find when you look for it. Unselfconscious. Simply itself.
The bananas fill the bowl and the bowl fills the canvas. They are completely themselves. The grey-green and the purple of the bowl arrived without being chosen. That is what no thinking looks like: the right colours appearing because you are not arguing with them.
